Mahmutlar continues to invest
In 2008 the municipality of Mahmutlar will once again be investing a substantial sum on improving public open spaces. A huge 12 million Euro has been earmarked for resurfacing, roadside planting, laying out of parks, street lighting and a petrol station. The programme of works includes the complete renovation of the D400, the coast road that leads to Mersin and the paving of Barbaros Street from the town hall eastwards through to Doris Aytur Hotel. Ataturk Street (the popular backstreet) will be resurfaced and provided with new lighting starting from the statue of Mevlana and heading towards Kestel. The same applies in the other direction, with the section of Ataturk Street lying between Zafer Caddesi and Sukru Top Caddesi. Mahmutlar will also get a petrol station next year. Furthermore new parks will be set down throughout the municipality and the local rivers (the Yaderesi and Meydan) will be given a new lease of life. Source: Mahmutlar Post
